What is the best way to store fresh fruits, veggies, herbs?
I'm trying to shop for the week, and find that by day 4 or 5 my veggies start to go bad. I generally put them in a wicker basket on my counter. Herbs go in the fridge.
I'd prefer not to make multiple trips to the store since I have a 10 month old and 3 year old, .. and it just sucks in the winter, lol.

I have two old tupperware products called "pick-a-deli". They have inserts that let air circulate around the veggies and are perfect for carrots and celery. I clean those as soon as I get home, wash them and store them in the containers. They stay fresh for weeks. Rubbermade also makes a containers with plastic mesh inserts and green lids designed to keep produce fresh. They also work well. The secret seems to be keeping the veggies from sitting in moisture. Good luck0

This may sound strange but it works..I have made a salad for the week, in one ziplock I have the fruit and veggies (other than lettuce) all divided out for each day of the week, including cut up avacado..I literally sucked all the air out of the baggie, closed it up and put it in the fridge and the veggies are staying good..I don't know how long, but so far no brown avacado0

I use the method of... Where I find it in the supermarket, is where I store it at home..
Not in the chilled section, not in the fridge at home0 -
What temperature is your worktop and is it away from light? Most people's kitchens get quite warm when they are cooking and are quite light places, both can degrade produce faster.
Almost everything I buy fresh goes in the refrigerator - I live alone and some things last weeks in the fridge. The only things that stay out are onions, bananas and apples I think. Also eat quite a bit of frozen fruit and veggies (berries and greens).0
