Picky eater... help?

I'm a really picky eater and I've tried SO many times to try new foods because I'm so embarrassed by it. I can't eat fruit because the texture gags me, but I drink most fruit juices. There are only select veggies I like, and even at that, I'm pick about them. I like different types of peas and beans, potatoes, corn, zucchini and yellow squash, carrots (if cooked), tomatoes (if cooked), onions, and sometimes sweet potatoes. I have tried so hard, but I just can't eat any fruits/veggies other than these. And I can't hardly do fish or eggs, either.

Due to my eating habits, I have a high starch diet. I thought I ate a lot of meat, but keeping track of my calories on this website, I've realized how little protein I get daily but how I'm taking in way too many carbs.

Does anyone have any tips or advice? Ways to eat other fruits and veggies, ways to keep carb count low and protein count high, etc?

Thanks!!

I'm the same way. I can't stand most veggies that are out there. I'd be a terrible vegetarian, so, I'll apologize in advance to the animal kingdom.

I've found what works for me is to ignore my partner when she's making pasta sauce; she'll mix veggies in pasta sauce and won't tell me what they are, so it's a good way to eat the stuff that's good for me while having the taste of them masked. In the interest of keeping my carbs down, I only eat pasta once a week, and I use a low-carb pasta that claims to only have 5 digestible carbs in it (note: no way of verifying if that claim is true or not, so use your best judgement, watch for blood sugar spikes). I also mix some veggies in with taco meat (peppers, etc).

    Good luck!

Got a great plan, quit being so dang picky. You are missing out on everything. If you are picky, and won't change, this post is only good for attention. Eat outside of your comfort zone.

Try to redistribute portion sizes on the different foods. If you need more protein, eat the larger amount of chicken and a bit less of the cooked carrots.

Willing to try smoothies? You can make them with fruits and veggies.

Be sure to get fats in your diet :)
