Hello everyone! Recently I played around with my calorie intake and found myself eating less calories than recommended. I was trying made out meal plans that where only hitting at around 900 calories a day. I only did it about 2 weeks because I found myself feeling ill. I wish to increase my intake back to 1200 like before, but my question is will this make me gain back the weight I managed to loose on my previous diet? Should I increase my exercise?

Thanks for any help!

  • no, i don't believe you will. I had the same issue before where i would starve myself for a while then grow ill and faint. a 1200 calorie diet wont cause you to gain weight especially if you add in exercise if you do wish to create a larger deficit (what i do) all the best :)

Are you here for health or weight loss? Eating 900 calories, or even 1200 calories (unless your under 5 feet) will probably make you hungry, tired, irritable, etc, etc, etc. You may gain a few pounds to begin with by upping your calories because your body will hold on to whatever it gets, but once it realizes your not starving it, the weight will come back down.

You can eat more than 1200 calories and still lose weight. However, when you increase your cals you may gain some "weight" initially since you were on very low cal for awhile.

I would take a look at that. It helps to figure out how much you should eat given your current weight, height, measurements, & activity level.

Initially yes. Your body always does that when adding extra fuel.

But you'll be feeling better and feeding your body. Don't step on the scale for a month

Up your calories by 100 a week for 3 weeks
