Hey all. Looking for input of all fundraisers, distance runners or Ironman triathletes, since I'm talking about the full marathon here. I have an opportunity to run the Boston Marathon this year with a charity group- so, I don't have to time-qualify but I do have to finish within 6 hours. I have a 10-minute mile and am joining a running group to get coached for the race, so I am confident I could do that. My background: triathlete, have done 1 half-marathon about 6 years ago and a half-Ironman in 2009. Not much since, but am getting back into it. Did a 5K at Thanksgiving, had my 10-minute mile pace. I would like to know how likely you think it is that I could be ready for the whole 26.2 by April 15th, 2013. Insane? Doable? I'm definitely very determined to make it happen and I am no stranger to hard training.

The fundraising part- since it's for a charity (GoKids, based in Boston, which focuses on childhood obesity), I have to raise money which in this case is $5000 by April 9th. I joined the group late, however the group leader has assured me that this goal is quite reachable and that some groups aren't even fully formed yet, so people could still be adding on (and starting later with the same end goal). I don't have experience with fundraising so I would love some opinions on this issue as well.

thanks for all the help!
