Lower Carb Diets

I have issues around carbs. I love them. When I over eat, it's carbs. When I am pmsing, it's carbs. When I binge...it's carbs.
Don't get me wrong, carbs are great and we need them! However, they are my biggest weakness. My frenemy.

I set my macros tonight at 20% carbs. I have my account set up as sedentary and eat back what I work off. For 1,430 before exercise it gives me 72 carbs.

Is this an okay amount for a lower carb lifestyle? I want to get my carb issue under control!

  • Hi
I've just started on a lower carb way of eating and i'm finding my intake is about 25%, but I never feel hungry now I'm eating healthy stuff like lots of salads, but making sure I eat protein with each meal. Before I would binge on bread and pastas throughout the day. For me this seems to work and I'm starting to lose weight and feel 100 times better.
    Hope this helped?
  • The trick is to just play around with a percent that you can maintain. Not one that will work great for a weak, but then youre unsatisfied and start binge-carbing (which we've all done). Also, it helps to find things to replace carbs, or less carby carbs, if that makes sense. Good luck!

Def. helped. 4 months ago I tried the Atkins thing, but the induction was crap. Only 20 grams of net carbs. Total carbs-fiber=net carbs. I lost 5 pounds in 3 days, but felt terrible.
I did feel very full with the protein and fat though!

I've lowered my intake of carbs, switching to a higher intake of protein. That seems to be helping me feel fuller and less inclined to binge. Although, by "lowering my intake of carbs" I mean that I've eliminated anything made with flour from my diet (following the grey sheet food plan from OA) and I'm sticking to fruits/veggies/beans as my main carb sources.
