There is no single thing that makes people fat. Good fats like nuts and avocados are a great addition to any meal plan. Unhealthy fats like potato chips, french fries or other saturated fats are not good to eat at all, even in small quantities. I say 'at all' because they have addictive properties that make you crave more of them. The food companies want you to buy more because they are high profit margin items. So they are engineered to make you crave more.

Sugar is another product that is like this. Not just in candy or soda, but in BBQ sauces, dressings, and more. Read the labels.

Carbs are not bad as long as they are whole grain or fruits and vegetables no matter what time of day they are eaten. The delusion that eating a carb late at night makes you gain weight is a myth unfounded by facts. Quit prolonging the myth.

I eat half my carbs for the day regularly in a nightly meal somewhere between 9-12 pm. I am not fat. In fact, I believe my body fat % is decreasing. Too much face stuffing and a*s sitting is what makes people fat.

Oh so it's not face sitting and a*s stuffing that makes you fat then?

Oh look another troll/ sarcasm/ drama thread, because that so rarely happens.
No, the OP is being serious.

Sadly and grossly misinformed, but serious nonetheless.

Bahahahah! Well, maybe. Although most gay men tend to be kinda fit.
  • I hope the OP was joking. Excessive calories makes you gain weight regardless of whether from fat, carbohydrate or protein.

I'm pretty sure cupcakes made me fat.

How awesome would it be if we could just make a simple statement and it be true? :-)

I like how people blame things external to them for being fat. Just look at YOU, and you will find the answer to why you are fat. It's nothing external to you.
Food made me fat. Food is external to me. Until I eat it. Then it's internal. And then I can't see it. Now who do I blame for THAT!?

Perhaps that is because they don't eat carbs after 6pm, just protein?

You can go with high carb/high volume and lose weight. You can go with low volume/high density (with more hunger-satiating fat in it) and lose weight. What you can't do is go with high carb/high fat, with calories greatly exceeding your calorie requirements and lose weight. A very big guy with a high metabolism, and a lot of muscle and a lot of exercise, could maybe get away with eating a piece of "Carrot Cake A La Mode" from The Keg every day (one piece is 2,445 calories and includes 62 teaspoons of sugar--that's about 1.25 cups, folks!) without gaining an ounce. But few of us are in that category.

Myth...extra caloric consumption will add fat to someone's body. It has nothing to do with what time you eat.

It's got to have something to do with excessive meat consumption.

speaking of fat, my daily calorie intake under fat is 53, this was the recommendation and set up by fitness pal based on my information. The american heart association recommends no more than 30 grams of fat a day? Heart disease is the number one killer in america. I am a cardiovascular nurse and know that 53 grams is almost twice the recommended daily intake for fat. so please someone tell me how did fitness pal figure I should have this much fat. Or am I looking at something incorrectly. FYI I am trying to loose weight not gain it.

funny when I plug in the miles I ran it says I earned more calories. I can't loose weight if I take it off running eating healthier,, but then putting the earned ones backed in after I just ran them off.
  • Carbs give you energy but doesn't necessarily make you full, protein makes you full but doesn't give you the energy, It depends on your own metobolic rate on how many carbs you eat. You over eat in calories and haven't burnt the carbs then you will put on weight and if you over eat in calories you will put on weight. I have a low metobolic rate so I eat less carbs - those with a higher metobolic rate may eat much more, if you are brain tired and not body tired eat omega 3 - fresh salmon is excellent.
