Hello, I am very aneamic due to my eating habits and have been since I was eleven. Anyone have any ideas on rich iron foods which are also healthy?xx

  • Hey,

I'm anemic as well. Only thing that helped get my iron up was bi-weekly iron injections.

That being said: spinach, meat - especially red meat are high iron sources. Cereals are often fortified with high iron. I used to drink carnation instant breakfast shakes because they have 50% of your daily needs, but are not good if you are trying to be healthy as they are full of sugar and other junk.

Iron supplements with a glass of orange juice or a vitamin C supplement (your body needs the folic acid to absorb the iron properly) Look for supplements that say they are easy on your stomach. Otherwise you'll probably have a sore tummy & be constipated. Don't try to liquid iron, either. It doesn't matter if it's flavoured, it's f*king terrible.

    Edit to add.
