I have a few questions about low carb dieting. What is a realistic daily carb goal?

What are good food choices besides eggs, veggies and chicken? I have PCOS and my doctor recommended staying away from all dairy products so that cuts out milk, cheese and yogurt.

Am I able to eat sunflower seeds and peanuts while low carb dieting?

You can definitely eat peanuts and nuts while on a low carb diet. For a 30g serving of almonds you are looking at about 190kcals, 7g carbs, 15g fat, 7g protein and 1g of sat fat. And if you've been told to kick out dairy, nuts have a good source of fat which you wouldn't be getting for no dairy - and of course! It's all good fat!

Other good foods are pretty much all lean meat without skin or fat. Fish is very good too. I eat a lot of tuna which is good to replace a lot of calories that aren't carby! E.g. if I have a bagel, I now eat one half of this bagel with double toppings of meat! Fish is a very good source - e.g. poached salmon. :)

I've seen some people on a low carb diet that have about 50-60g of carbs a day. However it's probably a better idea to set your macros to 40/30/30.

    Hope this helps.
