What is your favorite health related book (diet, fitness, etc.)? I want to buy a new one. Also, what is your favorite healthy recipe book? I need recipes that are simple with few ingredients. I hate when I go online and find a healthy recipe with a long list of ingredients bc it gets so expensive. Please help!

I found Why We Get Fat very informative and sensible. It's written by a science writer for the NY Times and the National Institute of Healthy has supported his conclusions, although they have some disagreement about some details (his thoughts on low fat).
It is not a 'healthy' food book but if you're learning to cook a more diverse diet and you want something tasty, I like Jamie Oliver. He has yummy food. His more recent books are health conscious. How To Cook is specifically meant for newer cooks.
Don't laugh, but my favorite simple cookbook is The International Cookbook For Kids. Also not a 'health' cookbook. But it has lots of healthy foods in it and you just control portion size. All like 5 ingredients. Made for kids. Every single one delicious. And from every continent except Antartica. I bought it to teach my son to cook. I use it myself all the time.0 -

I will definitely check those out! I love, love, love Jamie Oliver. I never thought about a kids cookbook-- what a great idea-- promise I'm not laughing. It's kinda off subject, but I have gone to websites for kids to help with my college homework. It's easier to understand.0 -
My fave books are:
The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living by Stephen D. Phinney & Jeff S. Volek
What Comes First, Cardio or Weights by Alex Hutchinson
I dont have any favorite cookbooks. I do enjoy Linda's Low Carb site for recipe and meal ideas.0 -
I love "The World's Healthiest Foods" by George Mateljan. Big book with lots of great info and quick recipes. Most of its recipes can be done in 15 min or less and contain lost of fresh nutrient dense whole foods.0

I've just read fit2fat2fit by Drew Manning about a personal trainer who deliberately gained 75lb in an effort to understand how hard it is for his obese clients. really really good as it catalogues him hating junk food at first, then slowly becoming addicted and struggling to return to his healthy lifestyle.0
