I just added calcium to my list. I've been going over on it. Will that hurt my weight loss in any way? I'm on the depo shot too whhich robs me of calcium. I think going over is a good thing but I also thought that about protein at one time too.

it should be between 10 and 15% of your total calories eaten. too much calcium (like four times as much as recommended) can lead to constipation, dry mouth, a continuous headache, being thirsty all the time, being overly irritable, a loss of appetite, depression, a metallic taste in the mouth, pain in the kidneys, and general fatigue. high protein diets leech calcium out of the bones so increase your calcium if you are eating a high amount of protein. :) hope that helps.

You can't be hurt by too much calcium--your body will get rid of what it doesn't need. My doctor recently told me to double the USDA recommended amounts of both calcium and Vitamin D because recent research indicates that women need more than was originally thought. I take 2,000 mg of calcium and 800 IU of Vitamin D. There are people who develop calcium deposits in their joints, but as far as I know, that hasn't been directly linked to calcium consumption. Mostly women don't get enough calcium.
