Flavored cream cheese

Has anyone tried making their own fruity flavored cream cheese? I love whole wheat bagels w/ cream cheese on my way to work in the mornings, but am looking for an even healthier alternative to the lowfat cream cheese that I've been buying. I'd like to do the fat free cream cheese but can't stomach the taste. Wondering if anyone has experimented with adding sugar free jellies to fat free regular cream cheese or anything like that. (I realize that it will change the consistency and that is okay)

  • What if you tried simply topping it all with some fruit? Blueberries or strawberries or whatever tastes yummy. If you really wanted to feel like you're indulging, you could always mix some splenda in with frozen fruit (I prefer blueberries) and thaw it in the microwave, then you'd have kind of a fruity-flavored syrup-like topping.

why dont you try the 1/3 reduced fat. I really like it. Maybe try and blend that with some jelly or maybe some diced apples, or strawberries. Now you got me wanting to try and make this

I know, me too! As soon as I posted my response I was thinking, "mmmm, bagels."

I make my own herbed cream cheese all the time to put on crackers, sandwiches, wraps, etc. I just add whatever herbs I feel like (usually garlic & dill) and mix it all up. You can flavor it how ever you want!

I get the light cream cheese and it tastes just like regular. Don't go for that fat free stuff, the light isn't bad at all and it's super tasty!

What about using Laughing Cow Cheese? They are 35 calories a wedge for the light variety and taste good. They have plain, french onion, and garlic and herb flavors. I also use this cheese instead of mayo and use it to make mashed cauliflower.

I normally top my bagels w/peanut butter for the additional carbs/protein, but what about low cal, sugar free jam or jelly on top of the cream cheese?

The other day I found an awesome recipe that called for half an english muffin, topped with low fat cream cheese, and peaches that are mixed with cinnamon and a few other spices, topped with oatmeal. Haven't tried it yet and it says you can swap the peaches for pears or apples. I'll post the recipe when I get home as this could be an option for you too!
