Activity Level

I am not sure if I have my activity set at the right level. I am a stay at home mom. I walk my youngest son to and from school every morning and afternoon. I clean house daily. But I am also on the computer for a few hours a day. I set my activity level as lightly active because to me, sedentary means sitting around most of the day, if not all day. I know that my activity level, current weight, and weight goals are what MFP uses to set my daily calorie intake to insure a deficit prior to any workouts. I am beginning to second guess my decision to set fitness profile to lightly active. How did you decide which activity level best fit your lifestyle?

I set mine at sedentary and then add on any activity- including housework, shopping, etc.

I am a computer admin and work from home so I do daily chores and my work. I set my activity at sedentary because to really say I was doing light work I would be on my feet all day doing things. It never hurts to under guess the amount u are burning in your daily activity low. I would factor the walking your son to school into your daily exercise and set you activity level to sedentary. If you actually do burn more in your daily life then great if not then you are not adding more calories in that you have to burn. I hope that helps.

Thanks for the advice. I am going to change my setting but add in my activities, like walking my son to school, house cleaning, etc. and see how that goes.

If you are unsure and really want to try to get it right i would suggest going with the lowest setting and then adding in activities as you do them. A bit more data entry but you could really drill down that way.
