Hi all

My hubby and I normally have date day/night on Saturdays; however, this weekend, we will be attend his cousin's college graduation and party sooooo we have to change our usual Saturday date to tonight!!! Yay me!! Anywhooo, we are going to this really good Mexican Restaurant and I have NO IDEA what to get. Normally on Saturdays I will have done an hour of yoga and cardio plus I only eat fruits until it's time for REAL food. Today was NOT one of those days for me. I have done really well for a normal day but I still want to remain under my cals. I have 947 cals left for today.. No seriously 947!! Does anyone have any ideas of what I could order at the restaurant?

947 calories is a lot to work with. You could get chicken fajitas with corn tortillas and fill them with guacamole or pico de gallo. You could also get a fajita salad with chicken, guacamole and pico. Stay away from the cheese and limit yourself on chips and you should be fine! Also, if your worried about it, do your usual saturday routine and eat how you would have eaten today- it will all even out over the week.

Does your Mexican Restaurant serve seafood? I love a good baked tilapia fillet from our local Mexican restaurants. I agree with blj about eating fajita chicken with a few corn tortillas and plenty of salsa and pico. Or, you could forget the food altogether and opt for 2 margaritas instead!!! :)

    Go to /www.chipotlefan.com/index.php?id=nutrition_calculator
It is Chipotle's food calculator. I read (in the book "Don't eat that, Eat this") that Chipotle has the worst food (calories/health wise, not taste) for you. You can plug in the items you want and see the calories add up for you. That way you can get an idea of what the calories might be. I use this for any Mexican place I go thinking that if Chipotle is higher than most it would be a safe guide. Better to guess over than under IMO.

I love Mexican food and I am so wishing I got a date night once a week. :brokenheart: J/K
Have a great time with your man!

    A couple of options...
When you order your food, ask them to go ahead and bring a to go box out with your food. As soon as your food comes out - put half of it in the to go box to take home.

Do they have a senior menu? Ask if it's possible to order from it. (it's normally smaller portions)

Ask Hubby if he'd like to share an entree.

Order any sauce/cheese to be brought out on the side.

And whatever you do... be sure to drink a TON of water. Mexican food is generally pretty high in sodium.

Enjoy your dinner and date night with your hubby!
