PCOSers - how many carbs/day have brought you success?

I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome 23 years ago. I'm 47. I have the usual symptoms. Some would say I'm fortunate enough to not have had a huge weight problem but I'm not comfortable at my current weight. I would like to lose at least 10 lbs. I have been working out 5-6 days a week for about 10 years now. Spinning 3x week, weights classes, yoga, biking outside and running when my knees are happy. Each year I gain a little more, especially in the belly and I'm frustrated. I'm going to really focus on diet and know that carbs really effect me. How many carbs per meal or per day do you eat and have you had success?

I have taken Sprironotactone for years and my doc put me on Metformin a few years ago when I complained that I couldn't lose weight. It hasn't helped me lose any weight (although I don't take it the 2x day prescribed, usually can only remember once and I feel sick if I take it 2x/day). I'd like to stop taking the Metformin since I don't see any benefit from it.

Does anyone have a magic carbs/protein/fat ratio that has worked for them? Any foods you try to stay away from?

    I've been watching mine and I can have all the fat and protein I want but I stay under 150g of carbs or I have problems, my weight is 205.

    my doc just put me on a low carb diet I've been doing it for about 2 weeks and already lost about 4 lbs. I try to eat 50-75 carbs a day but also there is some fiber in there, so I guess always less than 50. I feel good on the diet. Some say you should go into ketosis if you have PCOS but that's not really an option for me:)

    I just took a glucose tolerance test to determine if I need metformin.
