I am thinking about hosting a Swap Party. I have been to one in the past and it was a lot of fun. I am planning on doing clothing and accessories. Has anyone hosted one before? And do you have any tips or suggestions? thanks

Friends of mine with children do it all the time, to clear out their children's barely used or softly used clothing/toys etc.

Well actually we don't or at least I don't. We just call it a swinger or lifestyle party.

Well I think everyone here is remembering something called a "key swap" party from the 70's or a "wife swap" show from recent television. Swap is such a loaded term I guess. I always think of Swap Meet, even when getting a clothing swap invite and shy away a little due to that idea of knockoffs, damaged wares, or things stolen off a truck.

Yes and people who are responding aren't responding to the clothing aspect of it but the whole swap part and what it's implying ie: swinging.

OP - have you tried looking on Facebook for a swap, buy, trade group in your area? We have a few near me, divided into miscellaneous, clothes and accessories, and baby/children items. I've gotten some sweet deals that way. If there is a group, you could post a party invite and say first 20 people can come, and pm them your address so you're not publicly posting it. Or find a neutral location so you're not asking complete strangers into your house.
