The Affair...

Potato Chips. My secret love.

I was doing well for 9+ months eating those Special K cracker chips. These are good I told myself. I'm happy with these. Then one day I bought a bag of Kettle Chips - because (I told myself) I never had them before.

BAM! That was it.

Two bags later, I was grabbing my old love - Lays Potato Chips - off the shelf running home and quickly hiding them in the back of the food pantry! "I'll be back later," I whispered.

I tried to control the addiction by limiting myself to one serving, sometimes two. But there were cold, lonely nights when the bag tip-toed out of the food pantry, dropped it's Chip Clip on the floor, and crawled up in my lap while I was watching tv. "I love you," the bag would say. "I love you too," I would say. "Have some wine," it would say. "Ok," I would say.

On an on it would go until the wee hours of the morning. The bag empty and licked clean, I would fall to the floor begging for forgiveness, wondering how I had so easily been seduced.

Then I realized I had "wanted it" all along.

  • Either I need to get out and mingle more often, or this story sounds kind of sexy.

Also let me be the first to salute you for going 9+ months in the first place without.

This is why I don't cut foods out of my diet...it turns out they creep up on me and we have situation on our hands like yours ;)
  • Sounds like my love affair with the FINE HAZZLENUT CHOCOLATES, FERRERO ROCHER  . If I can't plan for the calorie accountablity intake of them, just avoid the "sinful pleasure" at all cost...lol

Ha ha! Don't toy with me beautiful. Remember, I have a weakness for chicks, I mean chips...

    And thanks for the salute...

Well Done on 9 months but like others said I wouldn't cut things out altogether unless you know you're never going back.

Ice cream is like chips, you can never just have one spoonful, or even 12.

    Stupid ice cream :grumble:

Ha...I agree. Big problem for me since my hubby (who of course is skinny) owns a Cold Stone Creamery. Doesn't help with my efforts here.

OMG....I have the same issue....POTATO CHIPS! They call my name! I had surgery about 15 years ago and had a very difficult time recovering and lost about 45 pounds. When I finally was able to eat again, the only food item that sounded good for weeks was potato chips and they have been an addiction ever since! I can totally relate!!!

I'd hoped I'd never see Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate block again. But you now what? It surprised the hell out of me last week by tapping me on the hand much to my surprise. I took one look and it was dressed in a dark purple exterior. The most "attractive market research impulse-buy get out" you would ever lay eyes on.

I couldn't help myself... I stopped the trolley, it looked at me, I just had to have it. We took off home.

Pretty soon it was undressed before it could say "un-wrap me!"

My god. I hope I never see it again...
