Sugar Free?

Has anyone ever tried or are on a sugar free diet?
I've been on it just under a week and am feeling good. At first I was desperate for something sugary. A chocolate bar, a biscuit. Anything. So instead of having a sweet dessert I would make sure I had the calories for cheese and biscuits. Finding the calories wasn't too bad as your range of diet is limited and I am snacking less. Now however, I don't even feel the need for a dessert.
I do miss marmalade though. Waking up to toast and marmalade However now I have Marmite. Hopefully I can keep this diet going.
Finally what are your thoughts about cutting out sugar? Mine, it's tough. But I guess the longer you do it, the easier it becomes.

oh gosh, i should.... you're so strong!! i would go nuts i think and end up stuffing myself after a week, lol. But it's really good for you. Are you also cutting out sugar from things like fruit? Or just typical sugary sweets?0

Good for you, it IS tough!
What do you do about naturally occurring sugars such as in fruit or milk?0 -
Hi
Thank you, I know lol!
I'm just cutting out refined sugars, like sweets, biscuits etc. I've kept on eating fruits, milk and things like that0 -

Hi!
yeah, you sort of feel like that at the beginning, but once you make it through the first few days it seems to be ok *touchwood*! I'm just cutting out refined sugars like sweets and biscuits etc. I'm still eating fruit and things - I seriously don't know what I'd have left to eat if fruit went too lol! I managed to skip eating my sisters chocolate birthday cake yesterday by eating a banana. I was quite proud, but to be honest I'm at the stage I don't really want sugar any more0 -

You don't need to cut out fruit sugar. That doesn't mean to go ahead and 10 pieces of fruit a day. Cutting out candies and things like that is fine obviously. Unless you have a medical condition then don't go crazy thinking about naturally occurring sugars. Also, it was your sisters birthday, you should have enjoyed a piece of cake. There is no need to deprive yourself from all the treats life offers. Its not a diet. Its a change of lifestyle and while eating cake everyday won't be good for you, enjoying a small piece at a party won't really make much of a difference when you look you at the grand scheme of things.
Sugar is not evil.
Yeah I agree. The reason I didn't have cake was because I've only been going sugar free for 7-10 days so I want to get used to it before treating myself every now and again! I agree with the change of lifestyle. I decided I would have a larger meal when we were out rather than cake as my treat I haven't cut out fruit sugars, nor am I ODing on fruit! I quite like a babybell or something as a treat Thanks for your advice, I think it really helps having people giving you a hand on here!! xxx0 -

Understandable. That's not a bad way to think imo in regards to deciding to eat larger instead of desert. I do that too. Best of luck on your weight loss journey.
Thank you. And you too. xx0
