Hi Everyone,

I was just looking at the reports and saw the graph for new calories comsumed, how is this number calculated and mine appears to be all over the board, and I am wondering, whats the optimal number here for someone who should be consuming 1200 cals/day. I have not lost any weight yet and I was wondering maybe if my net calories were any insight to this??

Help please :) I would love if someone can explain this to me.

this number is you goal calorie amount set up by mfp and is fixed each day. Net calories takes into account exercise, and every time you log an exercise you get more calories. So if you burn different amounts of calories each day and eat differently each day this number will change. Essentially you want to eat all of the cals as per MFP including cals earned through exercise.

Many people will say that unless you are very obese, you net calories should not be less than 1200 or 1000 calories each day. :flowerforyou: An occasional day far under that probably isn't going to hurt you, but it's unwise to consistently net a very low number.

Edit: Basically, net calories are what your body has to left to function on after exercise is considered. Your body needs fuel and shouldn't be forced to try to survive off just a few hundred calories each day.
