Thank you.
I used to workout 6 days a week but I've recently changed jobs and now find this difficult to do as have to leave home early and have church activities in the evenings and at any rate, I prefer morning workouts. I only work 3 days a week - Monday to Wednesday. I stopped working out about 4 months ago as I couldn't fit in my 6 days but decided 2 days ago that 4 days is better than NONE (wonder why on earth I didn't think of this before Doh!! :blushing: )
So, on Thursday, I did Fire30 (turbofire) and yesterday, I did Cardio Power & Resistance (Insanity). I, however, would like to mix and match - get a healthy mix of both cardio and toning and strengths etc etc. If left to me to pick a DVD out of the box, I'd pick one that's fun, or that's easy to do, or that's a shorter time etc
So can someone, please, pretty please, do me a rota from Thursday to Sunday. Thank you and stay blessed.

Yes thanks a lot. I'm currently doing Jillian Michaels Body Revolution but will give the 6 days hybrid a try after I've finished. I was thinking of doing Insanity on its own but want to incorporate strength along with it so this will be ideal!0
-
Combining these two programs sort of defeats the purpose of doing a hybrid program in the first place because they are both very similar to each other in that they are mostly cardio with very little strength work. If you want to put a hybrid program together, select a program that is strength based and a program that is cardio based. A good example would be P90X and Turbo Fire. And when putting your schedule together it is very important to schedule rest days after days where you've worked your lower body very hard via strength training or plyometrics work.0

I thought that was what this programme was0

I thought that was what this programme was
Turbo Fire is all cardio and so is Insanity like conting said.
You could do:
Turbo Fire / Chalene Extreme
Turbo Fire / P90X
Insanity / Body Revolution - don't do any BR cardio since you will be doing cardio with Insanity
Turbo Fire / Body Revolution - don't do any BR cardio since you will be doing cardio with Turbo Fire0 -
When I finish Body Revolution I won't want to do it again but I've heard good things about Insanity so would rather do a Hybrid with that.
Charlene Extreme looks like it could be a good Hybrid with either Turbo Fire or Insanity. Maybe someone can post up a hybrid programme. I'll start a separate thread for it I think. I wouldn't know where to start otherwise as I want to get a good mix of working all my body parts and having enough rest betwen etc. but I want a 6 day programme with max calorie burn.0 -

If you're dead set on doing Insanity as your cardio workout then i STRONGLY recommend using P90X instead of ChaLEAN Extreme for the strength portion. Insanity and ChaLEAN Extreme don't mix well because they both work your leg muscles heavily every single day to the point of failure which is NOT a good idea. This will actually slow down your results and make you more prone to injury. In addition most of the moves in Insanity have no way to modify them to remove impact which is something you want to do when making a hybrid with other programs. P90X works different muscle groups on different days which makes it easier to fit it in together with Insanity.
One thing you SHOULD understand about hybrid programs is that from an exercise standpoint they generally are no better than the base programs used in them and often times are less effective. People do them because they want the challenge, but as far as getting results goes 9 times out of 10 you'll do better picking one program and sticking with it.
That being said... my suggestions is that if you really are dead set on doing a hybrid program here are the best choices to choose from:
ChaLEAN Extreme > TurboJam
ChaLEAN Extreme > TurboFIRE
P90X > Insanity
P90X > RevAbs
P90X > TurboFIRE
Understand however you'll probably get better results picking just one program and sticking with it. Remember these hybrid programs aren't for results but for challenge. People do them because they want the sense of personal achievement that comes from doing them.0 -
Thanks for that, maybe I'll do Chalene Extreme and Tubo Fire in that case but I need to get hold of a day by day workout plan. I don't mind doing a whole program instead of a hybrid but it's just that I have heard such good things about Insanity I want to try it for myself but don't want to give up the strength.
What about doing a split workout program ie. in the morning do one and the evening a different one?
Would it be better to simply do Chalene Extreme on it's own from start to finish initially and then when I am where I want to be weight and body fatwise change to Insanity?0 -

Doing a split of one in the AM and one in the PM is even worse from a safety sandpoint because joints themselves also need to recover. After completing any sort of highly intense lower body workout, whether it's strength training OR plyometrics, you need a full 48 hours rest MINIMUM.
My suggestion if you're dead set on doing Insanity is this:
P90X/Insanity Hybrid where you take TWO (and ONLY TWO) Random workouts from Insanity (your choice as to which ones) and do P90X cycling those Insanity workouts in place of the Plyo X and Kenpo X days. Aside from that stick to the P90X schedule. You can cycle the Insanity workouts you do each week.
Combining strength training and high intensity cardio in a workout schedule, strength training should be the one given priority. If compromises have to be made in putting together the schedule, it's better to take from the cardio end of the spectrum than the strength training. Are you opposed to doing workouts that are not DVD workouts? I think you'll find that there are books and ebooks out there that guide you through programs way better than most of these DVDs. They're just not popular cause, well, people don't like to read anymore.0 -
That sounds like a good idea but time could be a problem. I can only normally fit in 30-40 minute workouts at any one time which is why I like Body Revolution as they are all within that time scale. I can then easily do extra cardio workouts if I want to or other things like today I did the cardio 1 from the program and then a separate yoga workout split into 2 sessions.
I am not opposed to doing book based workouts as I have a home gym anyway so I have all the equipment I need I just find that I have given up in the past as I've either lost motivation or I've developed an injury. At least with the DVDs you've got someone shouting at you from the TV which is motivation for me and you almost feel like you're not doing it alone as it's in a class full of people doing the same thing and you can see how they're doing the moves etc.
I have got books at home which give workouts for women or workouts for your body shape, also kettlebell workouts and that kind of thing and my boyfriend has a lot of weight training books too but I don't like doing them alone and he never trains when I do due to his schedule.0 -
Thanks everyone for your input. I've done turbofire for the full 20 weeks before I've completed Insanity before (got the t-shirt) I've done the 30 day shred before (got good results) then I took a break from fitness for about 3 months :ohwell:
I'm now back in the loop and almost half way through the 30 day shred again. Afterwards, maybe I'll just stick to either turbofire OR Insanity and NOT do a hybrid0 -

I see cardio cardio cardio cardio. Definite lack of strength training there.0 -

Different strokes for different folks I completed month 1 of Insanity this morning. Rest day tomorrow. Then beginning the recovery week (day) :happy:0 -
I am currently doing Insanity and heavy lifting together. Decided to break up the cardio with proper strength training. I'm definitely feeling stronger but not seeing the definition I'd like yet or inch loss. I have been skipping Insanity workouts on weights days and other days I've doubled up (but split the workouts during the day), just doing whatever I can manage really and aiming for a 3500 calorie burn each week.0

I will start today0
