What's your pep talk?

Years ago, a teacher friend of mine was given a last minute assignment change to a different school and a different grade. I went up to her, expecting her to be angry or crying. I said, "I'm so sorry. I know it's really hard to change schools and rooms a day before classes start." She smiled and said, "It's not hard. It's inconvenient. Cancer is hard. Being homeless is hard. Changing schools is inconvenient."

So now when I don't want to work out I remind myself, "Working out isn't not hard. It's uncomfortable, it's inconvenient, but it's not hard. People have gone through much harder experiences than going on the elliptical machine for 45 minutes."

Works for me almost every time!

What's your pep talk? What do you say to yourself to motivate you to work out and make other healthy choices?

When I am running and feeling like giving up at a long distance I pray. Maybe it is silly to some, but I have to remember that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Just because you don't work out today doesn't mean that June will come any slower. Get your butt out there!

"Either way, time will pass." Someone said that here on the boards not too long ago. That's what I've been saying lately when I don't want to do things the healthy way. Might as well make the time count.

I love the hard vs inconvenient thing!
