Color Me Rad 5K and Children

I was wondering how smart it is to sign up (my husband and I) for this run and then have our 6 year old son tag along with us. I checked their FAQ and it's allowed. Under 7 can run for free (no t-shirt or sunglasses given to them) and we have to sign a waiver.
I think he might enjoy it, he's a skinny guy who has TONS of energy but if he gets tired, I guess we could carry him. The plan is to walk it if we bring him but if we don't my husband and I will find family to watch him and wait for us at the finish line as we run it.
Just wondering if anyone else has brought along their child on a run like this.
Thanks for the help.

A co-worker took her 6yr old son to do the Color Run in Milwaukee. His dad went with in case he gave up before they finished.0
