49 looking to get to my normal weight for my 50th

Hi,
I am 49 years old and set myself a target to get to my normal weight for my 50th birthday, which happens to be in 50 weeks. I love myfitnesspal, which helped me track my way to losing a few pounds in the past, but the weight crept right back on. It seems to be getting much harder to shed the pounds now, so I am looking for all the motivation and support I can get to help me lose the weight.
Oh, by the way, I am 5'6'' and weigh 138 pounds. Want to get to 124 lbs, so 14 pounds to target.
One of my big challenges is that I am vegetarian - have been all my life. And I LOVE desserts. In any shape or form. That, and my lack of will power when it comes to eating dessert, are my downfalls.
Help, please?
