I have been going to the gym for a while but I have been given some new excercises to do. Machine squats, box squats, oppositionals (opposite leg and arm raises while kneeling on the foor) and planks. I did this 2 days in a row and now my thighs are killing me!!!
Oh well I am sure this will get better right????!!!!

Absolutely! But in the future don't work the same muscle groups 2 days in a row. You have to give them time to heal... usually every 2-3 days for each group is a good goal.0

I know I think I got a bit too enthusiastic!! I now feel like avery old person and it even hurts sitting down on the loo!!!!
When should I give it another go???
Oh and I managed to put on a pound overnight but I am guessing my poor muscles are trying to recover.0 -
The weight gain is likely due to muscle repair drink lots of water, stretch and if possible foam roll / massage any tight spots with a tennis ball. I find some gentle activity helps swimming/ walking. Give a day between resistance exercises of the same muscle groups. Good luck.0

Yes, the so called extra pound is your muscles being abit swollen or holding onto water. There will be a whoosh! soon
As far as when the next leg workout should be, depends on how sore you are. some people are sore for a whole week the first time they do those type of exercises, others only need 1 day of rest. Take it easy on the legs until the soreness goes away.
Also, you'll feel better if you keep the muscle warm, stretched out. sitting or laying down for long periods will nake it worse.
that's why it always seems the worst when you wake up. mornings like that, I have to walk down the stairs, it can be a challenge
Feel proud. You have found a challenging workout. That is not always easy to do. I look forward to DOMS- delayed onset muscle soreness, because I know I found what works, and your muscles will repair and be better than ever.
Keep up the good work! Weight lifting is the fountain of youth, you'll feel so much better, more energy, everything0 -
I am loving it in a weird masochistic kinda way!!!
I have lost a ton of weight over the past year both diet and excercise and supported by surgery. I can now do things I never thought possible. I have always been very clumsy yet losing the excess weight is sooooo helping with that and my body is doing things it couldn't before. I also had a moment of quiet joy when my trainer said 'You are actually really flexible' in a surprised voice!!
Now if only I had the confidence to jog on the treadmill but I am so scared of tripping and falling off.0 -
I know what you mean about being clumsy. I never run on the treadmill in case I fall I prefer the eliptical anyway. When i use the treadmill I up the incline to make it harder rather than speed i.e. brisk walking up a slope.0
