trying not to stop exercise!

Ok friends, I have a question and if any of you have experienced the same or close. My back has been killing the past couple of days! It was doing "ok", but the past few days it has been bad, I do have DDD,Herniated discs, Sciatica. I do see my pain doctor tomorrow, but I was wondering if anyone has been here and does it eventually get better!? Just curious how much longer I have to push threw this pain!

    My best friend has chronic pain. It does get better, but not by sheer will power or just 'pushing through'. You need good advice from the right specialists. Perhaps your pain doc can recommend someone?

    That's not the kind of pain I would push through. You need to rest or stop or seek physical therapy and find something that works that isn't making your back worse.

    i did do PT and i do see a physitrist , she told me to go to the gym and lose more weight, I was 240 got down to 170, then hurt my back and now i am 189. i told her i stopped going to the gm cause it hurt and i swear she thought i was being " lazy" and the pain was just cause i was big and not in shape, not cause it was real pain in my back.

    You should wait to see your PT again, but if you're hurting your back in the gym you're either doing the exercises wrong, or doing the wrong exercises right now.

    I have some lower back issues with degeneration and sciatica. Exercise to make your back stronger is what works. Yeah, I know. I have found a capsule of turmeric and a capsule of ginger daily really help keep inflammation down. Adding glucosimine, chondroitin and msm might help keep things from getting worse, but they don't really help things get better.

    Back strengthening is the only thing that really helps me. Find an exercise that doesn't pressure your back too much.     Working large muscle groups forces the brain to focus on them and minimizes the pain in your back, as well as strengthening the muscles in your core, that keep your vertabrea (sp?) straight and separated.

    That and the right mattress.

    Have you had an MRI and is there anything a chiropractor can do?

    i have had an MRI, that is the next step i think i am going for is a chro. PT didnt do much for me! thanks for all the info to help with inflamation :)
