Weekly Calorie Goal

So today I was checking out all of my stats, and realized that I'm 2,296 under my net weekly calorie goal.
I still have 750 left today, but should I eat a little more to try to lower what I have left for my weekly calories?
This has been my first full week, so I'm not sure what I should do.

well it takes a deficit of 3,500 to lose a pound. so you're doing well! you want that deficit right?0
-
I don't know .... I am 800 under mine bu that's coz of my exercise cals .... I've just been readig that you shod eat your exercise cals back ... So maybe I should ... I'm so terrified o gaining weight0

The deficit needed to lose weight is already factored into your daily goal, isn't it?
If so, then I feel like the weekly goal is with the deficit taken into account as well.0 -

Omg no. Your weekly goal ALREADY includes a deficit. You should get as close to your weekly goal as possible.
OP, it sounds like you've probably been undereating all week. So yeah, feel free to give yourself an extra treat or two today It's fine to end under your weekly goal, you just want to make sure you body is nourished correctly. In the future, just try to get closer to your daily calorie goals and the weekly goals will fall into place!0 -

But your weekly goal s the amount of cals per day you should eat ... And your goal ha already taken into account your deficit to lose weight ... So I should at 1500 cals a day which is 10,500 a week so if I'm 800 under that then I haven't eaten enough .. That's how I understand it0 -

I know how you feel! I haven't weighed myself yet, since this is the first full week. I don't want to get in a habit of weighing myself more than every 2 weeks so that I'm not discouraged.
I've been reading that you should eat back your exercise calories also, so I've been making sure I'm AT LEAST at 1200 net.0 -

Ok that's what I was thinking, but it seemed too good to be true, haha. Guess I can have some of the football Sunday goodies I've been avoiding.
I'll have to add some more into my diet next week, just have to get into a routine and get the hang of this.0 -
I would always error on the side of eating MORE! Because if you too severely cut back on calories and have too large of a deficit, you really do run the risk of slowing metabolism ....eventually that is gonna lead to the whole yo-yo diet thing. You don't want that.
Bodies do learn to live on fewer calories...so eat as much as you can to lose weight, not as little as you can!

Ha, yeah, I guess I did!
It just seems so backward from everything I've been told that eating more will result in weight loss.0 -
I've just read the revised road map thread it's a real eye opener. Search revised road map, and it tells you everything you need to know. Less is not always more.0

Helloitsdan has done the roadmap he is on my list of mfp friends .... He really knows what he's talking about ... It's called in place of a road map it's ace reading ..!!!0

It'll give you a detailed walkthrough (with pictures even) on finding your TDEE and calculating what you should be eating.

^ What she said. People tend to forget that when you get your calorie goals - they are at a deficit already. So eating 100 cal over really really isn't a big deal. And people who start undereating by 100-300 calories a day thinking they are "ahead of the game" don't realize that by eating their calorie goals they are already ahead of the game and end up stressing out.0 -

It has definitely been work getting myself to remember that more is actually better, but I've been trying hard to be sure I eat all the allotted calories. This was my first week, so starting tomorrow I'm going to start planning more and trying to make sure I get to that goal.0 -

That Salmon Salad was supposed to be a toast and jelly with decaf "snack" eaten as breakfast with the family, but when I realized we were close to lunchtime already I knew I should make this my meal of the day since I had no shake and a 100 calories snack added to the shake I already had much earlier was not going to fill me up anymore I was starving and would have left the restaurant heading for a headache, nausea, and the risk of cheating later at the supermarket because I think nothing of opening a candy bar or other snack while shopping and paying for the wrapper at the register. Weigh in on this please because my hubby thinks this is the crime of the century while I think as long as I KNOW I have the CASH (no risky cards or coupons, etc) I am okay paying for it after the shopping trip if I feel I need the food now to avoid problems with impulse buys, headaches, weakness or whatever.0
