Strength Training For Dummies

Reading some posts about folks losing a lot of weight ending up with extra baggy skin, many people suggest strength training too. I'm definitely in this category (goal is to lose 130 lbs), and consider myself a weakling (boyfriend does all the heavy lifting for me).
What can I do at home for strength training? All I really know how to do are crunches, wall push ups, and leg lifts. If you know any good "moves" that have like youtube videos on how to do them, that would be awesome too.
Just a note, I have pretty bad carpal tunnel in both my wrists, so I try to go easy on them when possible.
Thanks for any advice or help!

Lifting shouldn't effect your carpal tunnel as long as you are able to keep your wrists straight while you're doing it (i.e. do knuckle push ups instead of flat handed push ups). If your doctor told you not to lift weights then be sure to not listen to him because he doesn't know what he's talking about! Doctors are trained to treat illness, not promote health. I know this because I am an Electroneurophysiologist AND I train. And actually, if you have that much weight to lose that is probably why you have carpal tunnel syndrome. If you need to lose 130lbs then you need to go get a gym membership anyway so ditch the at home routine, go to the gym and do Stronglifts 5x5 (check it out at stronglifts.com), do as much cardio as you can and start eating healthy (check out the carb nite solution). With that much weight to lose, it's pretty easy to make progress when you first start out. PM me if you have any questions, I'm glad to help.0
