Frankly, I don't get it either. But I haven't seen Girls. I've heard it's funny.

I think part of her appeal to many is that she has made her business off the fact that she is average looking and that she is actually someone you might meet in everyday life. To many, that is refreshing. But I think she has made too much of her average looks, and uses every criticism to say, "well, they're criticizing me because I'm not typically hollywood cute."
