200 Pounds to Lose

So, I'm about 6' tall and I weigh 340. I want to get down to 140 eventually. I know people say to lose 1-2 pounds per week, but I started a vegan diet last week and already lost 14 pounds. I realize it will slow, but is that ok to start out? I drank plenty of water and ate around 1300 calories. Is that dangerous or am I losing so fast because my starting weight is so high?

In my first week I lost 15lbs this is quite normal , it's mostly water and you have a lot to lose like i do it will slow down but try and eat the goal that MFP gives you and 140lbs is way too low for somebody 6ft tall

For a first week loss I wouldn't worry about it as it will mostly be water weight and for a while you'll likely lose larger amounts than most because you do have a good deal to lose.

I am a little concerned about your calorie goal as it seems quite low. Also, since you've gone vegan keep a close eye on your nutrients as it can take some work to get all that you need when you give up animal products.

14 pounds is fine since you have a high start weight and I am sure you know that you won't sustain such high numbers. But curious though why you want to get as low as 140 when you are so tall. Be realistic in your expectations for your body size and type and adjust as you go.

140 pounds isnt a healthy weight for someone who is 6ft tall by the way. Its great you're trying to lose weight and you probably realised that a lot of that 14lb is just water weight. I would advise you to do weight training and exercise even now, at your heavy weight. If you simply diet to lose 200lb then you'll have a lot of loose skin to deal with.
