Calorie Cycling

Hi all!
I am only a week in with my weigh loss, but I am already worried about the dreaded plateau! When I was on Weight Watchers a while back I know that after about 25 pounds of weight loss that even though I was still eating right, etc. it just wasn't coming off anymore. I just read about calorie cycling. The concept is that you trick your body on a daily (or every few days) on what your calorie intake is so that your metabolism never lowers and thinks 1200 calories is normal. Is anybody doing this? I found a calculator but I am still confused. Should I just multiply 1200 calories by 7 and divide up that many calories throughout the week, some days being more some days being less? I wasn't sure if it was just that simple or if I should actually have a lot of calories one day and 1200 then next, etc.
Any advice you can give is appreciated!

If and when it happens, try upping your calorie intake for a couple of weeks. I'd say maintainence cals.0

I just ran across this concept via Women's Day magazine. January 14th issue. They provide some sample menus for each day, but I think that if we use the calorie counter to keep in line and spice things up will also suffice. My first day was today - hence the reason I logged in to affirm my calorie intake for today. It was easy and I did the low-calorie day today. The idea is to take on 2,000 calories one day and 1,000 calories next (alternating between high and low) with the intent to confuse your body because it doesn't know what is coming next. As I mentioned, it's my first day but the reason they say it works is because it has an ultra-low drop out rate. Pick up or Google the Women's Day magazine article on the shelves.0

another option is to eat more than 1200 calories so that your body won't "adjust" to the low calories and will continue to function as normal.0

WW has "weekly points" and I use them in a very similar way to calorie cycling. It works like a charm.
Not only does it keep your metabolism revved, but you can time it so you eat more on the weekends, or around birthdays, outings, parties, etc.
It's a win-win.0
