When do you actually gain weight?

I tried searching the boards for an answer but I didn't see one... When do u actually gain weight from eating poorly?
I know we have all had our share of days where we have gone over our calorie count... I over ate this weekend and stepped on the scale this morning expecting to see a horrific gain but I still weighed in the same.
I assume my spaghetti Os, pizza and coffee drinks are going to affect me some where....

A day or two of bad eating shouldn't cause you to gain weight. Remember 1lb = 3,500 calories. If you eat like that every day though, obviously there will be weight gain. Give yourself 2 cheat meals a week to stay sane, you shouldn't gain!0

There is no definitive answer and frankly it's not something anyone should worry about.
Your body is constantly switching between using and storing energy.
You will get fatter if you consistently eat more energy than you expend over a long time period (by that I mean weeks, months, years)
Plus digestion of food and absorption of it's nutrients does not happen instantly, you may well still be digesting things you ate yesterday. Worrying about if you are storing fat on a day to day/meal by meal basis is pointless.0 -

Oh and MFP did still state it's 'if everyday was like today you weigh X in 5 weeks' and was still a loss. So I know I didn't go over to badly, but I for sure ate junk.0
