Fasting/Green Smoothie/Green Tea/Water Day

What is your take on taking one day a week to sort of detox your system by consuming only the things listed in my subject line? I have been encouraged by a friend (also trying to lose weight) to add fasting one day a week to my exercise/nutrition routine. I thought Monday would be a great day to do it, as weekends are harder on me in regards to calorie counting and healthy eating. Don't get me wrong, I don't "go crazy" and pig out all weekend, but I am definitely not as stringent on the weekends and though this might be a good way to start my week off and help me get back on track. But, I don't want to sabotage myself either.... I realize I may be opening the proverbial "can of worms", but nonetheless I welcome your opinion!
