My first weigh in is tomorrow

Almost one week since I've started my weight loss journey for umpteenth time, and this time I've decided to take things slow and not be discouraged if I get on the scale tomorrow and only have lost a pound or two. When dieting in the past I deprived myself of anything and everything that wasn't a "diet" or healthy food - I wouldn't even eat one M&M if it was sitting in front of me. Back in the 1980s I remember losing 14 lbs. (yes, FOURTEEN) my first week on Weight Watchers. The discipline was all-encompassing, exhausting & totally made me feel overwhelmed. All that mentality did was set me up for failure, because in my humble opinion you can't deny yourself the foods you love forever. While I am making healthier choices and eating more salads, veggies & lean meats & fish, drinking more water, etc., I also ate 4 slices of real bacon yesterday (2 for breakfast, and 2 in a BLT at lunch), and Saturday night I ate a piece of cake (but of course that piece of cake was considerably smaller than what I'd usually take, but it was satisfying). I guess only time will tell if I'm making the right choices, but right now I don't feel like there are thousands of foods that I can never eat again. As they say, slow & steady wins the race - and I'm sure hoping I can win this time around!

Of course, I'm also looking for new buddies to share this journey with. Add me!! :)

You can add me. I have been here just a week. I too do not want to totally deprive myself of all sweets, bacon, cake. Just keep it down and lose some weight. I hope to walk the dog more too. I had a cheese burger one night last week and had more butter popcorn than I should have. I did lose one pound this week so it is do able.
  • A lb is a lb, keep it up, I dont go without anything, if I fancy a drink, chocolate or a cheeky kebab I have one, I just ensure I've earned the cals by swimming or going on my x box and dancing for an hour. Works for me. Don't get down if it's only a lb, if you carry on loosing thats the main thing. Every lb a week you loose is 52lb a year :0)
