Hi. I'm new here and am trying to get a handle on my eating habits before I introduce steady exercise. I have been successful on Jenny Craig in the past, but it's too expensive for me to purchase, so I am finding that My Fitness Pal is helping me keep my caloric intake at 1200 calories per day. But, I notice that I am eating much more than the recommended amount of protein in a day. I guess it's just that I'm making food choices that are high in proteins (lean meats, fish, etc). Is there any problem with eating so many grams of protein?

Thanks!

MFP has it's protein set pretty low for those who undertake regular exercise and are trying to lose weight.

Don't worry about going over on protein.

Just stay under on your calories.

    What he said.

Protein and fibre value are more like a minimum that a maximum.

I follow the, eat 1g/protein for each lb of LBM. Eg. My LBM (my mass minus my fat mass) is 150lb. I aim to eat eat 150g/day of protein.

Thanks...good to know. I definitely stay at or just under the 1200 calories. I really believe in a balanced diet and do not want to over or under eat anything. I appreciate your time!
