Running after appendectomy

I ran my first mile after I had surgery exactly 3 weeks ago minus a few hours. It took me 11:04, but the first one is down. I'd talked to the surgeon and he said avoid lifting for a month but I could walk and jog as I felt able. I feel great, and relieved! I can still run a mile without stopping, even though I was doing two before.
My question is this: should I take tomorrow off? What have other people who have has the surgery done to ease back into fitness programs? I don't want to over-do it, but I am eager to catch up on all the work I missed.

I would say plan to take the day off. You'll find you will get sore more quickly. If you wake up and feel awesome, give it a try but listen to your body. I had a major surgery last year and as soon as I could was back out and I will say that my body spoke LOUDLY when I needed to stop.0
