Safe ways to increase caloric intake?

I've been a student on the go for the past four years, and I've developed some pretty bad eating habits - in particular, I got to the point where I could subsist on 1000-1200 calories a day and not go wanting. It took signing up for this site for me to see how dangerous this is, and also how it is affecting my fitness. Seeing as my BMR (I'm 5'1 and 133 lbs) is around 1400, this is clearly not good.

I need to start eating more calories - 1600/day, to be exact - but since I get full so easily/quickly, I don't know how to do it without making myself physically sick from stuffing my face. I can only eat relatively small portions at a time since I get full so quickly. How can I start "training" my body to take in more without sabotaging my weight loss goals at the same time?

Calorie dense foods...a handful of almonds is 170 calories, 2 tablespoons of peanut butter is 200 calories...cook vegetables in a tablespoon of olive oil, add avocado to salads and sandwiches, eat a handful of seeds. Anything high in healthy fats will help you out.
