Question for anyone that has the zumba exhilarate dvd set

I've been wanting this set for awhile... but settled on the video games instead...

I'm thinking this box set is too expensive for me, especially if I don't know I'm going to like all the dvds it includes... so maybe I'll just buy a few of the dvds individually.. so which ones out of the set do you recommend that are the most fun? To me, I like high energy fun dance moves, with songs that are energetic, with good rhythm (not entirely latin music as that gets boring to me).

Thanks for your opinions.

Have you tried an actual Zumba class? So much fun!! I have the Zumba DVD set and find it hard to follow therefore not very motivational. But the energy from a Zumba class is so amazing!!

well I follow the video game, so I'm sure I'll be fine with the dvds.

I have tried a class one time. I felt stupid being there. Plus I have a busy schedule so I only get to do zumba at night and there's not many classes offered between 10pm-12am...

I wonder if your local library has the set. Perhaps you can check them out to see if/which ones you like enough to buy?

hmmm its not listed on the library's website... interesting that a library would carry that, but mine wouldn't (I live in a big city so you'd think it'd be somewhere..)

I have done them all.. Classes, DVDs and games.. my favorite.. Wii core 3..

The DVDs are fine but since I bought the wii game I haven't enjoyed them. I tried a few times but according to my HRM, I burn way more calories with the video games and there are just some dancers I can't stand to watch.. Plus the video games gives you a bigger variety of routines where as the DVDs only give you one.

If you enjoy the video games stick with that until you can find some cheap DVDs..

I did look, cheapest was like 45$ but I saw people selling individual dvds and thats what gave me the idea to just buy 1 or 2 of them

I do love wii core 3... sigh, i'd probably be disappointed with the dvds after playing the video games then huh?

  • Hi, i am a licensed Zumba instructor and have the entire Exhilerate set. I would recomend a class. You could try your local YMCA, adult learning center or community center for less expensive classes than a gym membership. If thats not possible i would recommend the "Exhilarate" DVD or the "Mix" DVD.

The Zumba DVDs and fitness games tend to be fairly heavily latin based. To find something less latin based you might check out a live class, there are a lot of instructors that use a little more pop and hip-hop. However, as Zumba instructors we are supposed to base 70% of our class in latin dance. Hope this helps!
  • Hey, i did not read that you had tried a class. I am sorry that it was not a good experience for you. If you ever want to try again you might see if AM classes work for you.

Also, i have tried both the DVD and fitness games. I think that the DVDs are much less engaging and honestly only use the Exhilarate collection to review routines and learn new moves. I would not go from the fitness game to the DVD. You might try the Zumba bollywood or hip-hop editions for Wii/Xbox.
