A startling realization

So I have recently started my weight loss journey. As of Jan 1st, I weighed in at 161 kg (354 lb). In the last two weeks I have lost 4 kg (8.8lb) through some simple changes. I have a history in lifting and sport so exercise always comes easy. Diet does not. This is where this amazing epiphany comes in. I was always under the impression that eating healthy was so much more expensive than eating **** food. I always considered to the ration of cost to weight to be insane. However, I was wrong. In the last two weeks I have saved a bucket load of money while losing weight and getting so much fitter. Who knew? What are some realizations you made? Mine was mostly through willful ignorance but some other tips from some successful people would go a long way!

My realization was that it's so easy to prepare healthy meals, and can be much quicker than cooking something unhealthy. And I'm enjoying it much more too!

My biggest realisation was that a big, healthy meal doesn't have to mean a huge amount of calories. You often see that in restaurants a typical meal is usually 1000cals+ but if you make a similar meal at home it can easily be half of that.

IT is true that a 'quick takeout' is often cheaper than a simliar size meal prepared at home. But what I have found is that the empty calories in something like a takeaway burger and chips, is way more than required for that meal. I can build a small salad or have a piece of roast chicken for a fraction of the cost of a McDonalds. The calories are lower, more nutritious and the price is WAY less. If I want to make myself the equivalent of a McDonalds burger and chips, I have to buy meat, rolls, potatoes, condiments, etc - which is going to cost more than the McDonalds - BUT, it will have the same HIGH CALORIE/LOW NUTRITION value as the McDonalds, and end up being more expensive.

So go with the low cal home made healthy options and you cant go wrong!
