What is your advice? No exercice - low calorie?

Dear Pal
,
I just had a whiplash one week ago and I won’t be able to exercise for some time.

Last two months, after the advice of MFP and the Road map, I have gradually increased my calorie from 1200 to 1600, and healed from being too obsessed about food.

I have been eating for decades less than 1200 cal and as a consequence I have a very slow metabolism. I only have 7 kg to lose but it doesn’t seem to be easy. (I am 62 kg for 1.59 cm).

Now my question is since I can’t exercise, should I go back and eat 1200 cal.

no. presuming you'll still be eating less than your living calories and daily expenditure I'd stay right where you are.

Whiplash is a trauma right? but how has it impacted your body? Is there any kind of exercise you can do ?
If 1200 is low for you, so it suppresses you metabolic rate... why would that be a good thing to do.
You should repair your metabolism, I expect you would feel better, enjoy life more. And with a healthy metabolism down the road,
you can look forward to losing weight (if needed) in a healthy and maintainable way.

Calculate your TDEE (not BMR). If 1600 calories is less than your TDEE number, then you will lose weight eating that amount. It will be slower without exercise, but it will still be weight loss until your healthy enough to exercise. I would personally NOT decrease your calories unless you find that you are eating above your TDEE. You need to stay healthy, and feeding your body will also help you heal.

Thanks a lot for your advices. What a relief! I was dreading for advice telling me to eat less. My relationship to food is much better now and I don’t want to go back to where I was if I don't have to.

I will definitely calculate my TDEE to find out.

@ nguk123 Due to the whiplash, I am suffering from neck pain & stiffness, lower back pain, headaches, dizziness, vision problem, focus, poor concentration …. It will get better with time with physiotherapy and I don’t want to force it for the time being!
