Hi! I heard about this site from "TriDave" on yahoo comment boards. I am a little over weight. I am 5'3" and currently see-sawing between 155-165LBS. I started out going between 165-175LBS about a year and a half a go after weaning my second baby from nursing. I have a terrible appetite problem. I constantly feel like I am starving no matter what I eat or how much I eat. I have tried a variety of remedies for this and nothing works very long. Diets of all sorts have been a waste of time. I was always a thin girl, weighing around 125lbs most of my life until I quit smoking. I smoked for 15 years and on April 2, 2005 I quit cold turkey and naturally ate everything that wasn't nailed down! I went from my 125 weight right on up to 165 seemingly overnight! I was able to get back down to 145 but never any less than that. If I can just get to 145 and stay there I will be happy, but I really am shooting for 135.
I find also that most of the black and white diet advice simply does not work for me. I hope to find others with the same struggles and frustrations who have found a way to get past it all!
I will upload a very honest picture of my self later in the day when I can get the nerve.
Thanks again TriDave for telling about this site!
(I posted this yesterday but I did not put it in the right place!)

Hello there! Diets are just that diets...they work for a little while but aren't a lifelong lifestyle change. Once you get used to changing what you eat you will find it much easier and much more successful. I was always a "skinny" girl too...that was up until after I went through divorce and struggled with my hypothyroidism. I ate a lot of junk due to depression, etc and I packed it on in about a year. I went from a slim 130 to about 180. I also packed on more over several years and was up to my heaviest at 220 about a year and a half ago (?), I would assume. I am now back down to 180 and I am very thankful to this place for that. I would like to get down to 160 for my first small goal. I would love to become friends and help you along your journey as much as I can. Please feel free to add me. :)

I should clarify. When I say I have tried diets, I don't mean a temporary fad or what not, I mean lifestyle. Our diet is what we eat daily. That is the sense I am using the word "diet" in. And also, I don't mean whacky stuff I mean alterations for the long term such as eliminating certain evils and adding in good stuff. Or tweaking the protien, carbs etc... Nothing has worked in nixing my insatiable appetite. It is very frustrating. Also the myth that if you don't lose weight your are not eating enough. This has proven false for me time and time again. I eat mostly whole foods. That isn't to say I never eat canned soup, or a toaster strudel once in a while. But my main diet is not full of bad stuff. Combining a good diet with exercise has done nothing as well. I think it's like solving a riddle. Not all bodies function exactly alike. I see others here have the same stuff going on as I do. This will certainly go a long way in getting past what ever the block is!
