Ok, so I just saw an advertisement on here for Body by Vi. They are saying that they will give 10k to 10 people if they can lose 10 pounds a week using their product!
MFP, you are supposed to encourage a healthy lifestyle with eating right and not 'dieting' with fads and pointless, unhealthy weight loss goals and you take money from Body by Vi so they can place an ad???
Shame on you!

MFP doesn't control the ads that pop up. Just like any other site you go to, the ads are generated by other websites you visit, topics you view, etc.

Or use an ad-blocker. Best invention since the internet!

Install Ad Block Plus as an extension to your browser. No more pesky ads.

MFP won't control that stuff. Those ads usually pop up on any fitness site they fish out.

Half my family members use Body by Vi and have had long, lasting, AMAZING results! I do NOT agree with the 10lbs per week -- however, Body by Vi is a lifestyle change. Once you lose your weight, you maintain it with their yummy shakes and regular exercise. You still eat meals, etc. It's just like Slimfast or the Weight Watchers stuff. I've never witnessed results like my family has gotten and they have kept it off! They look great and it has worked wonders for them. Maybe Body by Vi, should change their ad, so that they sound more encouraging and realistic. 10lbs in one week is not healthy, nor realistic.

It is actually based on your cookies from sites you visit.

For example, if you go look up trips to Vegas and "Vegas tips"....you will start seeing banner ads that reflect vegas casinos and things like that.

    Nothing to do with MFP

Mike and the gang have to make money some how and advertising is the way they do it. For a free site they have very minimal ads, and they are in decent placement so I never complain. Personally if they started charging for the site I would move on to somewhere else, not because I don't think its worth the money but because I simply cannot afford it.

I think it is up to the users to use their heads, We all know that body by Vi is not the best so don't use it. Sure there are some weak minded individuals or those that are just starting but if they pay any attention to the forums what-so-ever they would know there is no magic cure. Scolding a free site is pretty.... not OK.
