Hard time working out

I began my diet last week, and I also begun working out, but it was kind of sad for me bc a few months ago (3 or 4) I used to work out so much, especially in creative but high intensity dance. Lots of jumps and leaps and turns, combination of ballet and jazz. Anyhow, I really enjoyed it and did that twice a week, along with other courses at my local gym. However, all that working out hurt my knee, I apparently must have put too much effort on it and I got a tendonitis which kept me from working out, as every time I tried I ended up in pain. I had some electrotherapy, and the dr said no sports for at least 2 months. Now, 3 months have passed, and I am beginning again. I obviously cannot dance bc I was told to take it slow, but this has me feeling that working out is a chore and not as fun anymore. Anyone has recommendations to get my motivation back, or maybe even some slower-paced workouts I could try out? I'm so bummed!!

Maybe I'm missing something, but isn't it as simple as finding other things you enjoy?

You just have to find something else you enjoy. If you like dancing, see if you can find a Zumba class - it will be easy for you to keep up because you're already used to choreography, and the low-impact options shouldn't be stressful on your body. Cardio kickboxing might be something else to look for.

I don't know if you lift at all, but resistance training is always important. A lot of people find it fun because it's challenging (I'm not one of them, I just do it because I know I need to). Try it out if you're not doing it already.
  • Yes, try some different types of things. If you like group fitness you may like cycling classes. the music is loud and it's a great workout and it's fairly safe for knees.

If nothing else, just walk. People really undervalue walking.
