I get up at 6AM to be in the pool at 6:30. What are some ideas for a quick, easily and quickly digested breakfast items that I can just grab and go without much fuss? I've done bananas but am looking for some more inspiration.

My workouts starts about 3:45 am and I do not eat before I work out.
Only time I eat before a workout is when I am running a marathon or ultra. I will eat 2 pieces of wheat toast and sugar free or regular jelly a couple of hrs before.

almonds, banana, or one piece of wheat bread with 1/2 tbsp - 1 tbsp of peanut butter. I find that i dont workout as well if i dont eat something. Also, drinks at least a whole water bottle before working out. Especially if this is in the morning.

If I were going to eat first it would be something small like yogurt or a piece of fruit, and a glass of water. If you eat too much before a workout you can have some physical discomfort.
  • Depends on your goals, and the intensity of the workout.

If I am running I prefer not to eat for two reasons. (1 I have to wait 1.5 hours or risk side stiches, occasionally training with depleted glycogen is useful for races)

If I am doing lower intensity cardio or lifting I would go with a gel, healthy granolla bar, apple ....

If I am going for a long multi hour bike ride or hike I prefer a full breakfast with carbs / fat/ protein

I get up at 5:20 and am out the door by 5:30 to get to the gym at 6am. I eat a Zone Perfect Protein Bar (fudge graham!) in the car on the way.
