So I've been on MFP for over a year now, but never really made an effort to create my own community or reach out. Whenver I fall off the wagon with my weight loss the one thing I always wish I had was community, or a support system. My friends are not my size, and as I navigate through young adulthood I am noticing that I will have to face a lot of life alone as friends move in different directions.
A year and a half ago I went to a fitness resort in NY, it was amazing, and the one thing I really loved about it was being in a community of people who were fitness oriented and also not in super amazing shape, but were trying to make healthy changes while still loving and appreciating themselves...I fell off the wagon about 9 months after returning from the resort for a lot of reasons, but I remember thinking how much I wish I could have brought the people I met there back with me.
So here I am reaching out, and trying to create my own community of people trying to lose, make better decisions, share stories, share fears, and hopefully create a kind supportive, and motivational group.
A little about me: I'm 26, I live in Richmond, VA, I love my dog, I weigh about 210lbs ( I keep bobbing up and down from there), I'[m 5,7, and my UGW would be 145. I've never weighed that little, I've been over weight since middle school, but I want to enjoy the tail end of my twenties now. I am so tired of feeling self concious about taking pictures, and even avoiding them if I can. I want to look at myself in the mirror and feel proud, and pave my future with positive thoughts and high self esteem.
If anyone is with me, I would welcome new friends, and perhaps we can start a discission board or a group chat were we check in weekly or bi-weekly.
Talk to you soon!

Same here! I often do well for a while and then I fall off the wagon, and since no one around me has a weight problem, I dont feel comfortable talking to them about my fears and cravings.0

I understand completely! I fell off the bandwagon this Xmas and I was lucky to have my mini community on MFP to support me back into exercising and good food choices.
Feel free to add me. I'm 21, in the UK, 5"4 and also aiming to get to 145lbs...I also love my dogs!!!! :happy:0
