Break In-Between?

I was wondering if it really is okay, and beneficial to "take a rest" every other day from working out?
I do P90X and Cardio-Dance-Aerobics-fun-stuff (yes.... videos, and I am not embarrassed to say it! I can't afford a gym sub!!). I alternate these bi-weekly; 2 weeks of P90X 3-4 times a week, for 25-35 minutes, and then the next 2 weeks of the dance/aerobics in the same pattern. I get the feeling that it's just enough cardio to help me maintain weight, maybe lose a little in a healthy and slow way, which is fine, because I am just looking to stay fit and tone up. Since I lost about 50 last year, I am still battling with the "flab" ... Anyway, I was thinking about taking a 20-30 minute walk on my "off days", which I know is not a terrible idea. Should this the "day off" only apply if I am spending an hour or more working out?
Also, does anyone have any suggestions to help tone up ??
Thanks.
