Salad

This is day one for me to pay attention to my diet. I have been eating salad for lunch for weeks and weeks now. WELL....that Maries Blue Cheese dressing I have been using just raked up 320 calories...holy crap!!! I knew it wasnt the best but love it....not so much any more. And 40+ in fat..

Yes, salads can be quite deceiving! Glad you figured that out! I'm starting to put italien dressing on my salads now.

Yea, you're better off with a sirloin steak and a side of steamed veggies. More satisfying too,

Here's a tip. If there's a full-fat dressing that you realllly love, just use it on the side and dip your fork in it before taking a bite of salad. You use a very small amount of dressing that way, and still get the great taste that you love.
  • I make a dressing with a tablespoon of balsamic reduction + half a lemon squeezed + maybe some water + maybe some random herbs + maybe a dash of oil and mix it up. Satisfies and much lower than the creamy dressings!

We have regular salads, my partner makes us each one every day, except the days I have to be into work early, then I make them. When I get tired of it, I usually still use the veggies as a side salad with something else. He doesn't get tired of it; he has been eating some variation of this for two years. He also has a standard breakfast which is a low carb variation on the breakfast he ate for years before that.

    2 cups mixed greens
    3 flowerets of cauliflower
    1 ounce feta
    4 black olives
2 ounces peppercorn turkey from the deli (or tuna fish a couple times a week, in which case I leave out the olives)

The mixed greens are more flavorful than lettuce and the brine from the olives adds enough flavor for us. The pepper from the turkey helps, too.

His salads are slightly bigger than mine, he has about half again as much feta, olives and meat and he adds in a handful of craisins.
