Yummy protein shake recipes?

Hey all!

I'm looking to add some more protein to my diet and have been looking at protein shakes. Does anyone have any protein shake recipes they care to share? I'm a lover of berries and chocolate but I am willing to try new things. I'm thinking of getting Whey protein, but if you have other recommendations, let me know!

Thanks and good luck losing!!

    Another option to consider:

    1 scoop whey
+ anything else you want, guided by what sort of macros you are trying to hit.

My breakfast shake (I suppliment this for breakfast when I am running late to work)

1 cup 2% milk (or soy milk or almond or, you get the picture)
    1 cup of coffee
2 tablespoons sugar free carmel coffee creamer
    2 scoops chocolate whey
1/4 cup of oatmeal (I use Red Bob's quick cooking oats)

Blend in a blender for about 30 seconds.

This is really good, and tastes like the coffee energy drinks to me.

Just got Gemma pea protein shake in vanilla birthday cake flavor- it is SO good! Blended with almond milk and a couple of bananas this morning and it kept me full until lunch- a rarity!
  • banana
    golden delicious apple
    1/2 cup oatmeal
    1 cup vanilla almond milk
    cinnamon
    Jillian Michael's vanilla protein powder
    ice
  • Whey protein is actually less beneficial to women, I suggest a soy protein shake, vanilla or chocolate, with frozen strawberries and almond milk (sweetened or unsweetened)

Well, I like vegetables, so you might not like mine but:

    3-5 cups of arugula
1/2 cup of fresh squeezed orange juice (this cuts the bitter of the arugula)
    1 medium pear
    1/2 banana
1 scoop protein powder (I use raw hemp powder)
1 cup of raspberries or other berries

1-3 cups of spinach or other greens
1/2 cup of fresh squeezed orange juice or unsweetened almond milk
    1 scoop of protein powder
    1 cup of blueberries
1 cup of mixed frozen fruit (strawberries, mango, peaches and pinapple)
2 tsp raw almond butter or 1 TBSP flax seed or hemp seed

Mmmm, yummy and today someone posted this one but I haven't tried it yet:

    1 Cup Almond Milk
1 Scoop Vanilla Protein Powder (I will just use my hemp powder, with vanilla flavored stevia)
    1 Frozen Banana
    1/4 C rolled oats
    1 T Honey
    1 T Flaxseed Meal
  • Thanks! Ideally this would be for either breakfast, or post workout. I'm trying to lose 25 pounds ideally and have been eating a diet consisting of a lot of vegetables, brown rice, greek yogurt, fruits and protein, mainly chicken. I toss in some other snacks for when I'm hungry like hummus. I'm also very active and have been trying to hit the gym at least 6x per week.

Can you cite a source for such nonsense?

1 cup lowfat/skim milk, 1/4 cup nonfat yogurt, 1 scoop chocolate or vanilla whey protein, 2 tbs. flax seed meal, 1/2 cup frozen blueberries, and 1 cup sliced frozen strawberries. It has about 400 calories and 35 g. of protein. You can add 1/2 frozen banana if you want to make it creamy or you could add 2 tbs. of honey if you want it sweeter.

Make sure to use it as a meal replacement, not a snack--too many calories. I use it as a breakfast replacement, three days a week, before a 1 hour aerobic workout. The protein really helps keep down sore muscles.
  • I tend to resort to the following:

    skim milk
    1/2 - 1 frozen banana
    vanilla protein
    ground cinnamon
    honey
    optional: some chia bran

... plus bumping for later for more ideas
