Because the emotional issues have not been treated and healed, trading addictions allows the same emotional effect to be experienced, Instead of working on the cause of the addictions, individuals who end up trading addictions simply switch one self destructive activity or behavior to another. The end result will end up the same, with your life spiraling out of control because of this behavior or activity.
to me this statement rings true ive lost 70 pounds but my addiction to gambling has increased 10 fold the same hate and gratification i experenced eating then hating myself afterwards has been replaced i honestly dont know which is worse, is there anyone here that has switch eating with a diffrent type of addiction ?

I have an addiction to food, but so far, have not developed other addictions. I hope that I don't. The love-hate I have with food is a vicious cycle. I binge, then hate myself for doing so after I have done it.
Congrats on losing 70 lbs! That's fantastic!
I joined some clubs recently that I hope will help with my food addiction and bought a book that I should be getting in the next couple of days that I hope will help too.
