Afraid to go by net calories

Hi. I've been using MFP for 4 months and have lost 15 lbs. I've done this by eating the recommended calories and not paying attention to net calories - in other words, not counting any exercise calories I've burned. I exercise 40 minutes a day. So, I was eating 1330 calories a day and exercising most days for 40 minutes and losing about 1 lb. a week. But now I've stopped losing. I need to lose about 20 more lbs. I just can't believe I can lose by counting net calories. That would mean I would eat a lot more calories per day than I have been eating if I exercised the same. Doesn't seem possible and I'm afraid to try it - afraid I'll gain. Help!

  • I'm far from an expert, but I think someone mentioned that eventually you will hit a plateau in your weight loss. You just need to keep it exciting by changing up your routine, and sticking to it.

Thanks. I think you're right - a plateau. I'm trying to change it up a little. Maybe eating half the exercise calories. We'll see.
