New shoes hurting me!

So I know I'm an overpronator, so I bought some good cushiony Asics over the weekend. I tried them on in the store and walked around (not a lot of room to run) and they were super comfy but felt different than the Nikes I'm used to wearing, but I figured I'd give them a try.
6 minutes into my walk/run today and my arches were BURNING. It felt like the arch support is maybe too MUCH cushion? I'm thinking I'll try them out in a couple days with different socks before I return them.
Any suggestions or comments to keep me from returning and maybe trying something different? Different lacing or anything?
