Snacks for work

So I work in an Armored Truck all day long. I need ideas for things to bring and snack on so I don't end up going the route of picking up some fast food. Recently I try to bring a banana and a small baggy full of granola mix with me but I'm left still hungry and the granola is actually not to great on the calories.

I have had success off just monitoring my calories, I lost about 70lbs last year just from limiting my calorie intake to 1800 a day and going on a run for 4-5 days a week. I don't necessarily pay attention to protein intake but probably should.

Any good ideas for anything to bring with me on the road that is low in calories, yet possibly doesn't need to be heated/kept cold?

Snacks with protein may help you feel more full. Can you keep a small cooler in the truck with you? That way you can pack some rolled up sliced turkey or maybe celery and peanut butter.

    Almonds!

Keep me full and are easy to transport. But pre-package as bigger portions can get out of control calorie wise .

What kinds of things do you like? Meat, sweets, veggies? What calorie or other nutrient are you looking for in your snack? What kind of variance are you looking for?
  • Well I'm limiting my daily calories at 2000 for this moment, looking to ballpark my breakfast/lunch to around 800 calories and leave the rest for the evening if possible. I can bring a cooler in the truck but don't have one with me (might invest in that in the coming week or two).

Honestly, I prefer something that is protein based because it makes me feel full. I actually don't mind this granola because it does the trick pretty well but know I need something more protein focused.

You could try mixing the granola into some greek yoghurt or adding in some nuts. I love snacking on carrots, cucumber and capsicum with hummus and tzatziki

Oh and boiled eggs are always a good high protein snack that you can take with you

You like protein and a little sweet. The first suggestion that popped into my head is a skinless chicken breat and raisins. Both low cal and easy to eat slowly. The well cooked chicken breast comes off in slivers and the raisins can be eaten one by one.
  • Yogurt
Bread with peanut butter and jelly (or honey)
    Granola bar
    Carrots
    Soup on the go
    Apples
    Bananas

If you end up giving in to fast food, you might make yourself get the healthier option. For example, McDonald's has apple slices, subway offers low cal options. Try to set limits on yourself so you know that even if you go to a fast food place, you are not getting the food item that will fill you up until you are stuffed. Instead, you will just get something to hold you over.

I would also recommend making sure you have a large bottle of water to drink so that you might drink a lot of water before breakfast or during which can help you feel full. I found that breakfast was rough for me in the beginning because I felt like I was eating so little compared to what I used to have. Now, I can eat a banana and feel good until lunch.
